February 9th was the weekend we upgraded to Orchard Park. Orchard Park compared to Cary Park has more elevation changes and different areas of terrain for the team to play on. We had a great turnout and once again opened up with a game of bicycle soccer. The kids seemed to love it. Once again we broke the kids up into groups and we did some rides around the park to warm up and again.

After that, we broke the groups up for a little hill climbing and descending practice. Body positioning and gear selection are very important in these processes, and getting the students used to how their bikes react at different pitches and different levels of load. allow them to adjust more quickly in competition.
After the exercises, we had a fun competition where the students got to pick a task or an element of riding and force another competitor to imitate or compete against them with that element. It’s a lot like horse and basketball, but it is relegated to the bicycles.
This particular trip personally was a heartbreak for me. I took three bicycles and within 20 minutes managed to break all three.
