I really got to give it up to a couple of the coaches for their creativity. We’ve had some wet muddy weather the last couple of weeks, and this week was just about dry enough to bicycle with the team in a parking lot, but not really off into the mud and slop that was in the parks. So the team got together and got permission to use the parking lot near the pump track In Cary Park, the team assembled and we were grateful that so many kids showed up for practice.
Kevin brought the trailer and set up the ramps in the parking lot and we set up different exercises and obstacles for the kids to ride over and work on their skills. We broke the group into subgroups again to work on specific talents like Wheel hops and overcoming obstacles. Again, we focused on body bike separation and the idea of looking ahead instead of at your front wheel.
It was a great practice, and as the day progressed, it got warmer and warmer, and turned into a wonderful event, even though the grassy or off-road sections of the parks were still muddy and sloppy. It was a great practice, and I think it was one of the favorite ones for the kids.

After practice, the kids were able to hit up the pump track and have a bit of freestyle fun… big kids too. 😉
