February 1st was a little bit different than a mountain bike practice, for the coaches at least. Rob, David, Kevin, and myself, Kurt, all went to CPR certification day at the hospital in Hutchinson. Our instructor was wonderful, had a sense of humor, but was very thorough, and walked us through the different techniques of helping somebody that might have a heart issue, especially in competition.
We discussed the real-world implications of having a medical crisis on the trail versus the real-world implications of having a medical crisis at the grocery store. As you can see in the video, Rob has his technique down pat. So if you have a kid signing up for NICA to race with Hutchinson Composite, there is no need to worry.
You’re safe with us.
